The department was started on Nov. 2001 in the top floor of Sapthadi block. The top floor was converted by brick walls into different sections. At the beginning itself we had a full-fledged museum with 100 specimens including cross sections and embryology.
The department was shifted to the new academic block in 2003. It was constructed and arranged as per Medical Council of India (MCI) norms.
The department has a well equipped dissection hall with facilities for embalming and taking cross sections. At a time we can store 50 dead bodies. The Histology Laboratory contains a Projection Microscope with Close Circuit Television (CCTV) and 50 microscopes. Also there is facility to prepare histology slides. In addition, we have two demonstration rooms with seating capacity of 50 students in each. The rooms are fitted with traditional green board and Over Head Projector (OHP). The library contains 100 books of different titles and a seating capacity of 20 students.
